I design water bottles for a living, at the moment. Now this may sound strange, but there happens to be such a large market for new designs, that I often find myself traveling to Pensacola FL for design conventions and staying with Corporate Accommodations of NW Florida in a furnished apartment Pensacola.
Ultimately, it’s not even so much about the actual concept of carrying water as it is about the talented packaging work that goes into these new designs. Because with these new prototype conceptual theories, companies are able to cherry-pick their favorite features from our work and generate a whole slew of products from what they see at these conventions.
It’s this amalgamation that is ultimately provided to consumers; not the original intended concept, but rather, this frankenstein-esque technique to get the cheapest design components together for distribution. But, without this kind of work, I realize that a lot of our common tools would not have been created and then distributed for people to use.
So, I actually quite enjoy these convenings as it gives me wonderful time to explore what other people are thinking in terms of design and what the future may bring. I’ve met a lot of wonderful people at these events and have even seen some inventors get some pretty amazing contracts with larger companies.

It can be quite stressful to be around so many working professionals all competing against each other for the best design, but it really can foster a generative spirit.
