I have never been so thankful to have my own short term furnished housing in Tampa since I started hosting baseball training camps in Tampa FL. I feel like StayAvenida has really got my back and is taking care of me, keeping me going through all of the hard work and energy that has been sapped from my being over the last few weeks, so I am incredibly grateful to them for that!
Even though it has been an immense amount of work and energy, I feel like the work that I am doing with these kids from Tampa FL and the outlying areas has really made an impact on their lives for the better, so I wouldn’t trade this experience or work for the world. Many of these kids have never been part of a team-oriented activity before, so building up their self-esteem as well as teaching them how to rely on, trust, and work with others, I expect will have some profound impact on their lives as they continue to mature.
Though, of course, since this is a new concept to many of them, the time is not without its share of challenges! I did not anticipate the amount of interest these camps would garner, so I significantly underestimated the amount of manpower that would be involved with running the operation.
As a result of this underestimation, I am working harder and longer than I had accounted for, and return to my short term furnished housing in Tampa each night completely worn out. But StayAvenida must have infused the accommodation with magic because each morning I wake up feeling totally refreshed and ready to take on anything that these kids throw my way, literally!
The space itself is pretty normal, though there is definitely a quiet serenity that permeates the whole space which made me feel right at home the minute I walked in the door. It’s this same energy that I try to tap into during the day and has made me feel more confident with coaching the kids.
