Coming to Montreal Quebec Canada for the first time was an incredibly scary experience for a lot of reasons, but I suppose the biggest one was because I wasn’t totally yet comfortable with the language and so I was worried that I would not be able to properly work here. But because Gesthab was there for me with their temporary furnished apartments in Montreal, I was able to feel right at home and very comfortable right away and feeling quite relaxed in the best possible way.
It was always a dream of mine to come to Montreal Quebec Canada and to study and work and learn more about the people and culture here. Because I worked very hard at the language at home, I felt ok about coming and thought I might be able to be ok on my own here.
But when the time finally came to fly here and stay for a while, I was very worried and nervous about the trip. I knew I still wanted to come, but doubts and worries filled my head so that I was not thinking well enough about the fun and excitement to be enjoyed.
But after getting here and meeting the people from Gesthab, I immediately felt relief! Knowing that they were here to care for me and make me feel at home in my temporary furnished apartment in Montreal, I was able to relax a lot right away and start to have fun sooner than if I had really been alone.
I was enchanted by everything that I saw around me for weeks as I explored the area around my new home, even the small things like advertisement signs and restaurant menus made me feel like I was in a magical place. I still feel this kind of small joy when I go out and about, even though I have become more used to it now.
Not all of my friends have had such a smooth experience coming here from home. There are some bad stories you hear about people who are sick from not being home and are scared too much by the places they have been moved to, so I am thankful for my special housing since it makes me feel happy and safe.
I hope to come back to Montreal Quebec Canada one day, and if I do, I know I will definitely call Gesthab to get another temporary furnished apartment in Montreal for my stay. My time here has been so good, and I am so happy.
